In keeping with their mission of opening the world to its visitors, the Linden Museum in Stuttgart is offering another eye-opening exhibition called “Oishii! Japan’s Food Culture”. „Oishii!“ means “It tastes good” and in Japan it is one of the most commonly used word to describe food. This expression goes hand in hand with the social and cultural identity of the one who eats.
The Linden’s collections are intended to present the diversity of human cultures and facilitate emotional and intellectual encounters and this exhibition does not disappoint. This coming March 15th, we are excited to offer an evening of culture and fine Japanese cuisine. This special exhibition will cover the technological achievements necessary for the food production and preparation, the changing Japanese eating habits throughout history, who eats what and when, Sake the “holy drink”, and the ever important tea culture. After the tour, IWCS members and their +1 guest will enjoy a three-course Japanese dinner at Hegel 1, organized just for us.
This is a +1 event, which means:
- Any IWCS member plus one guest are welcome to attend.
- Your +1 can be a partner, spouse, adult child, or friend.
- You and your guest each pay the member cost described below.
The 60 minute tour will starts at 6:45 and will be be followed immediately by the meal. The IWC Stuttgart will be subsidizing the event by covering all guided tour and entrance fees. The only portion you and your guest will be responsible for is the €30 dinner fee (per person) plus your drinks for the evening. To hold the event we need at least 10 people confirmed and paid to the IWCS bank account no later than February 28th. The maximum number of participants is 25 so signup today!
If you have any extenuating circumstances that keep you from getting the funds to us by that date, please speak directly with the host so we don’t assume you are no longer interested. Prepayments are non-refundable after the payment deadline. Members who have to cancel at the last minute are welcome to find another member or guest to send in their place.
