Nearest train station: Bietigheim-Bissingen (S5)

Host Alison Tyler has booked us a fascinating English-language tour at the city museum in Bietigheim in July (Ludwigsburg county). We will be visiting their special exhibition “Orange – the color and attitude of life in the 1960s / 1970s.”

Orange dominated the color spectrum of German everyday life in the 1960s and 1970s. Like no other color, orange embodied the changes and upheavals of that time. It was the trend color in design and fashion and is used to this day as a signal color in public life. Orange stands for the everyday, the new, the energetic, the daring and the creative.

The exhibition focuses on design and everyday household objects. From vacuum cleaners to bathroom curtains to strollers and folding bikes, objects from numerous private collectors are on display.

We will meet at 10:45 and the tour will begin promptly at 11:00 and last for 50 minutes. The museum and exhibit are unfortunately not wheelchair-accessible. and can only be reached via stairs.

FINDING THE MUSEUM
The museum is approximately a 25-minute walk from the Bietigheim-Bissingen train station (S-Bahn) or there are busses from the Bietigheim ZOB that will get you within a 10 minute walk of the museum (check vvs.de for the best route from your location). Nearby parking information can be found here.
