February 2025 – Mother’s Corner Update
Things have been changing a lot recently for parents of small children here in Germany, and that is also true for our Mother’s Corner program – here is an update:
When we founded the IWC Stuttgart in 2005, our Mother’s Corner playgroup was one of our most popular programs. It seemed like everyone who joined had babies and toddlers! However, over time more and more women in Germany went back to work earlier, and participation dwindled and then finally disappeared during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Once we could meet again freely, we tried to revive the group. But as it turns out, it’s hard to sell a playgroup with no members. So after trying for two years, our Mother’s Corner group will be changing with the times.
Instead of weekly meet ups, the group will return to one public-facing event each month to welcome newcomers. The rest of the month it will be a virtual community, just like our other interest groups such as crafting or book club. Members with children are welcome to chat about parenting or any other topic in the Mother’s Corner Facebook group. And Meredith will continue to welcome new mums who write in to our email address.

We are truly thankful for the playgroup lasting as long as it did and are grateful to everyone who led the group, hosting us in your homes, or came to Ekiz to do crafts with us.
Who knows? Maybe there will be an IWC Stuttgart baby boom again someday!

We’ve reserved a private room for four hours where we can take turns singing along to our favorite hits in English, German, Chinese, Japanese, or Korean using the karaoke machine. Songs in other languages will be available through YouTube.
Don’t feel like performing or hate your singing voice? Don’t worry! There are four microphones we can use and background singers and group songs are always welcome. There’s also plenty of room to just dance around and enjoy the music.
About the location
The bar is located just up the street from the Porsche Museum and that is also the nearest train station (less than 10 minute walk). Parking is limited at the bar itself so carpool or take public transport if you can!
There is a €30 euro per hour drink minimum for the whole group (which works out to around €7 per person over the entire evening) and although the bar doesn’t serve food, we can bring our own snacks. Please bring something to share, if you are so inclined!
Their drinks menu and pricing can be found here. Please note that payment by EC card requires a minimum €10 purchase, so don’t forget to bring some cash to take care of your bill at the end of the night. Smoking is only allowed on their outside patio.
