“I want to volunteer and be involved in something!” – This is what new members frequently tell us as they fill out the membership form for our club. Many of us are not only looking for new friends and social opportunities, but also to make a difference in our community.

Here’s an easy way for members to do just that!

Even though our Annual Charity Event is over, we haven’t stopped fundraising for Frauen helfen Frauen. On the contrary, this is the point where the charity committee takes a break before planning the next ACE and our members take over.

We are encouraging members to plan their own personal fundraiser between now and the end of the year, and add the proceeds to the IWCS 2017 total donation to the Frauenhaus.

What can you do? Be creative – you can do almost anything fun with friends and other members and call it a fundraiser!

For example, last October the IWCS charity coordinator Claire DeVaney held a clothes swap party. With each attendee donating a €10 cover charge, the party raised €100 in addition to everyone taking home some fabulous new pieces for their wardrobes. It’s that easy!

Maybe you could hold a …

  • kid’s yoga class
  • Clothes Swap Party
  • series of ‘Come Dine with Me’ dinner parties
  • Great Stuttgart Bake Off
  • Wine walk and tasting
  • Fun-run or other physical challenge

Almost anything you can do with friends can be a fundraiser!!

If you wish, we will support you by advertising it through the club. Just let us know!!

Personal Fundraising Kick Off Idea –
Book a Party with Mary Kay®

IWCS member and your local Mary Kay® representative Suzanne Callamari has committed to donating 100% of the profits generated through her Mary Kay® product parties hosted by IWCS members for the rest of this year!

Since the beginning of the year she has already been able to raise €300 this way and was a major sponsor of our 2017 Annual Charity Event. Why not have a charity Mary Kay® party of your own and together help Suzanne reach her personal fundraising goal of €1000 for this year?

Mary Kay® parties are FUN! One-on-one, just-for-you service is only the beginning! When you host a Mary Kay® party, the benefits are simply beautiful – and it’s easier than ever to find the party that works best for you. There are few things better than an evening or afternoon spent with friends – especially when your Independent Beauty Consultant brings the goodies!

If you’re interested in getting your friends together for a party, send a message to Suzanne using the contact form below. If you’d like to open up your party to other club members, feel free to make an event on Facebook in our private group. We can even put the information in our monthly newsletter if you let us know early enough.

What other ideas do you have for a personal fundraiser in 2017? Let us know!!

🎉 ACE 2017 ROUND UP 🎉

We would like to say a big THANK YOU to all the guests, sponsors and supporters of the 2017 IWCS Annual Charity Event “Black&White Night”!!!

The ACE is our main fundraising activity of the year and accounts for a significant portion of our annual donation to Frauen helfen Frauen eV. Each year the committee makes a huge effort to organise a high quality event that offers a fun evening for everyone.  As always, small contributions from many people meant we were able to meet and exceed our fundraising goals.

Winners were grinners

This year in addition to our usual raffle table piled high with great vouchers, beautiful handmade art and crafts and (of course) wine, we also sourced a mega sponsor for our grand prize.

Congratulations to Callie Cambridge who was the winner of our grand prize from Allgäu Adventures!

Some final numbers: €1259 worth of general raffle tickets were sold, and €580 was taken in at the Allgäu Adventures Golden Ticket Raffle!

Adding those amounts to ticket sales, photo orders, drink and dessert sales, as well as cash donations, we raised a total of €4,748!!!!

Well done team!

A perfect photo finish

Caroline and Keith at Sunflower Images put in a MASSIVE effort on the evening providing their professional posing and photography skills for our guests. The results have been fantastic with some truly stunning portraits of our guests. Portrait prints will be sent out soon. You can view some images from the evening here (use the password SIACE2017)

Sunflower Imaging provide wedding, maternity, family, holiday, engagement, children and event portraiture. If you’re looking for a trusted partner to capture your precious moments, why not get in touch. Visit them online at their website.

Tell us what you think

This year we were really pleased with the event created by the charity committee, however given the relatively low attendance by club members, we feel as if we might have missed the mark in attracting as many of you as possible. Even if you didn’t attend this year (but especially if you did), we invite you to provide us with valuable feedback using our online survey so that we can create a really inclusive event in coming years.

We hear you loud and clear

We do listen to the feedback you give us! We made a few changes to the 2017 format based on last year’s survey.

Request #1 – More seating
This years’ event was a fully seated affair. Everyone a had a seat on a beautifully decorated table but that doesn’t mean there weren’t plenty of opportunities to mingle. With our professional photo-booth run by Sunflower Images and our raffle table there were loads of reasons to move about and catch up.

Request #2 – Opportunities to get to know other guests
This year we enlisted Quiz Master Nick who hosts a Pub Quiz at the Auld Rogue Pub in Vaihingen to press our ‘smart buttons’ and get us talking among our fellow guests. And what a conversation starter! It was a very fun addition to our evening.

Also new this year – each guest received a goodie bag filled with great swag from our sponsors, giving guests more value for their ticket price.

So many people to thank

We want to especially thank the members of the organising committee and the evening’s volunteers who all had a huge hand in delivering a successful evening. In no particular order, they are:

  • Vaida Kovalich
  • Sandra Bartsch
  • Emily Born
  • Jeannie Sterling Cropsey
  • Suzanne Loflin Callamari
  • Stephanie Sandlin
  • Michelle Niese Mendel
  • Allison Rösner
  • Courtney Sage
  • Dorothee Klein
  • Nena von Stein
  • Alex Elwin
  • Anna Earley

We would also like to thank all of our wonderful sponsors who donated cash and prizes to on the evening. For a complete list of sponsors, please visit our event website.

Hope to see you all next year!!

Dear Members,

I am beyond thrilled to still be on this journey with you in 2017, twelve years after our club’s founders first had the idea to start a group like this.

But if we want to grow and thrive, we are going to need a little help from all of you. Here are four easy things you can do to make this club a success in 2017 and beyond:

  • Come to the Annual General Meeting on March 21st and have your say. We need your feedback and ideas about the club.
  • Host an event at your home. We have been sorely missing smaller meet ups and meals in intimate settings.
  • Come up with your own small idea for a fundraiser. One of the goals laid out in our charter is to support the Frauenhaus and the best way to do that is with money. One member held a clothing swap. Another is hosting a makeup party. What could you do?
  • Join us at the Annual Charity Event on May 6th. It’s loads of fun and even if you are limited in the amount you can donate, just being part of the crowd helps us help the Frauenhaus.

Got all that? Save the dates (March 21st and May 6th) and think of something small to host.

We are looking forward to it!

Emily B.

As you know, work on our 2017 Annual Charity Event: Black and White Night is well underway. Each year we appeal to local businesses, big and small, for sponsorship support.

There are several different types of sponsorship available but all offer an opportunity for a business to make themselves better known among our members.

Do you know of a great business that you find yourself often recommending to friends? Perhaps a priceless real-estate agent, hair dresser, tax accountant or travel agent that offers you the best deals and you simply couldn’t do without?

We would like to reach out to them and request their support in our charity activities.

Please send us your recommendations and we will contact them as a part of our sponsors campaign. Feel free to use the contact form below or to grab one of the charity committee members at the next event.

Thanks for your ideas!

2017 Charity Coordinator

We’re excited to announce that theme of our next charity event, as voted by you the members, will be BLACK & WHITE NIGHT and the big party will be held on May 6, 2017.

We’re also very pleased to say that we have secured the Württembergische Automobil Club once more as our venue.

So, black OR white or black AND white? We’ll leave the interpretation up to you. For us it’s one or the other, or both!

Look out for more details in the coming months.

ACE 2017 Update for October

Late last month the Annual Charity Event 2017 committee held its first planning meeting with a review of your questionnaire responses. Your great feedback has inspired us to make a few exciting changes and additions to the format.

What we learned:

You love the venue but you want more seating!
We got it. We’re looking into the possibility of ‘cabaret’ style seating at the Württembergischer Automobilclub which will mean everyone can take a load off and sit down to dinner with all their friends, old and new. And speaking of new friends…

You’d like more opportunities to mingle!
This year we would like to make it easier for you to get to know everyone in the room, even if you’re flying solo. As well as grouped seating, we’re working on some new fun elements that will make it harder to be a wallflower. But we’re not going to tell you what they are just yet! You’ll need to buy a ticket to find out.

You love a good theme!
This year we’re asking for your vote on three themes. If you haven’t seen the Facebook poll yet, hop to it! Voting closes soon!

Finally, I also want to say welcome all our Annual Charity Event team members. Looking forward to working with you all!
