OPEN EVENT: CITY WALK – ENGLISH LANGUAGE TOUR OF STUTTGART MITTE

Please join us for a fun and FREE tour of the Stuttgart city center (in English) with our good friend from Stuttgart Marketing, Petra Rentschler.

For those of you who have done Petra’s tours in the past, you know that each time she shares new places and hilarious stories with us. So even if you’ve been on her tour before, don’t hesitate to come again! This tour is wheelchair and stroller friendly.

New, current, and prospective members are all welcome to attend – this event will take the place of our monthly Welcome Coffee.

We will meet at Königsstrasse 1 at the i-Punkt meeting place outside of the Stuttgart Marketing office (opposite the Hauptbahnhof) and begin our tour promptly at 10:30. If you get lost or are late, call Emily’s mobile phone at (0151) 2408 4485.

Current Covid-19 rules for the tour allow a maximum of 25 participants, all of whom must show either proof of full vaccination/recovery OR a negative test less than 24 hours old. Please bring your masks as we are required to wear them during the walk. These rules can change at any time, so please keep an eye on this event for updates.

Frauen helfen Frauen visits IWCS in March

Have you ever wondered who runs the Frauenhaus in Stuttgart and who their clients are? Join us in March for a presentation by Frauen helfen Frauen representatives Andrea Bosch and Giulia Scheurer. They will tell us all about the everyday life of the women and children who live at their shelter and how the money we collect throughout the year helps them.

Coffee, tea and water will be available at the meeting, which will last for approximately two hours. Nearest Stations are U/Rotebühlplatz & S/Stadtmitte.

April Club Meeting in Review: Jamie Mueller and Mindfulness

sunset_through_winter_tree_branches-190x190 Photos Public DomainMany of our members say they are too busy, stressed out and need a way to become more balanced.  We had the pleasure of hearing an insightful presentation from member, Jamie Mueller, “Busy and Balanced through Mindfulness,” at our April evening club meeting.  After her presentation, members were invited to stay for a meditation exercise.

What is Mindfulness?  One definition presented by Jamie is, “Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way:  on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally.”

From Jon Kabat-Zinn: “The self- regulation of attention. Awareness. ‘Just’ Awareness.”

For those of you who were unable to attend, Jamie has provided us with a copy of her presentation and an abundance of resources , including the following:

– The Breathing Meditation we did as a group (2nd one on the list)

– Wisdom 2.0 Conference

Book recommendation for those thinking about starting a mindfulness practice:
Mindfulness for Beginners: Reclaiming the Present Moment–and Your Life 

From Mindful Magazine and their website: For each of these thorny workplace problems, try the recommended practice, enjoy the benefit—and keep this chart handy.

Jamie will also be hosting a read-along of the book Mindfulness: An 8-week Plan for Finding Peace in a Frantic World starting on April 29th on her blog, Culture Bumps. Sign-up at the blog and you will receive the week-by-week discussions and exercises.
