OPEN EVENT: CITY WALK – ENGLISH LANGUAGE TOUR OF STUTTGART MITTE

For current, new and prospective members!

Please join us for a fun and FREE tour of the Stuttgart city center (in English) with our good friend from Stuttgart Marketing, Petra Rentschler.

For those of you who have done Petra’s tours in the past, you know that each time she shares new places and hilarious stories with us. So even if you’ve been on her tour before, don’t hesitate to come again! This tour is wheelchair and stroller friendly.

New, current, and prospective members are all welcome to attend – this event will take the place of our monthly Welcome Coffee.

We will meet at Königsstrasse 1 at the i-Punkt meeting place outside of the Stuttgart Marketing office (opposite the Hauptbahnhof) and begin our tour promptly at 10:30. If you get lost or are late, call Emily’s mobile phone at (0151) 2408 4485.

OPEN EVENT: Stuttgart City Walking Tour

Prospective members welcome!!

Please join us for a fun and FREE tour of the city center (in English) with our good friend from Stuttgart Marketing, Petra Rentschler.

For those of you who have done Petra’s tours in the past, you know that each time she shares new places and hilarious stories with us. So even if you’ve been on her tour before, don’t hesitate to come again! New, current, and prospective members are all welcome to attend. Stroller-friendly.

Current Covid-19 rules for the tour allow a maximum of 25 participants, all of whom must show either proof of full vaccination/recovery OR a negative test less than 24 hours old. Please bring your masks as we are required to wear them during the walk. These rules can change at any time, so please keep an eye on this event for updates.

We will meet at Königsstrasse 1 outside of the i-Punkt meeting place outside of the Stuttgart Marketing office (opposite the Hauptbahnhof) at 9:45 and begin our tour promptly at 10:00 . If you get lost or are late, call Emily’s mobile phone at (0151) 2408 4485.

OPEN EVENT: GHOST WALK THROUGH STUTTGART

Thursday, October 15th at 19:15
Location: Downtown Stuttgart
Host: Emily Born
Open to current and prospective members
Maximum 20 people

Because it’s the month of Hallowe’en, we will be taking a fun and spooky “Ghostwalk” through downtown Stuttgart and learn a bit more about the darker side of the city’s history.

This English-language walking tour is being held in lieu of our regular monthly dinner in October. Prospective members interested in learning more about the city and our club are welcome to join us for the tour – just follow the RSVP instructions below!

This entire event will take place outside, so please dress warmly and bring a rain hat or umbrella if necessary – the tour will still take place in all weather! Although our guide will not being wearing a mask (so that we can hear her), we are asking all participants to wear one during the tour for safety.

The cost of this event is €5 per member or prospective member, paid in advance via bank transfer. 

To reserve your spot, please RSVP using the form below or respond in the Facebook event. To confirm your reservation, please transfer your participation fees to the IWCS bank account no later than Monday the 12th of October. If you have any extenuating circumstances that keep you from getting the funds to us by that date, please speak directly with the host so we don’t assume you are no longer interested.

Prepayments are non-refundable after the payment deadline. Participants who have to cancel at the last minute are welcome to find another member or guest to send in their place.

Once you have confirmed your reservation, we will send you information about the exact meeting point. Hope to see you there!

2019 Monthly Dinners

Members of the IWC Stuttgart have gathered together for dinner on the third Tuesday of each month since the club was founded in 2005. This year we’ve decided to shake things up a little bit in that department.

The monthly dinner is traditionally meant to be both our main social event each month and a way to welcome prospective members and we’d like to increase attendance with a few changes and more promotion.

The first big change will be the time. Right now, 19:00 is a bit too late for those who are done with work in the early evening but a bit too early for those who need to wait for their spouse to come home so they can leave. As we already have the Happy Hour starting at 18:00 for the first group, we’ve decided to push our main dinner back to a 19:30 or 20:00 start time.

The second big change will be that Billie Schoeler will no longer be hosting every single dinner. She has done an outstanding job the past few years, but it really is too much for one person all by herself. Billie will continue to be the main host for the Happy Hour dinner and we will have rotating hosts for the main monthly dinner.

What does this mean? Because the dinners are not only a social event but a welcome event for prospective members, we will have our steering committee members take turns hosting the dinner, along with other highly involved and enthusiastic members.

We will also be changing the standing date from the third Tuesday to “the third week” of each month. The host will get to choose which day of the week is best for her schedule, so watch for upcoming dinners on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays this year!

If you would like to host a monthly dinner, just fill in the contact form below to let Emily know. Remember, you get to choose your favorite Stuttgart restaurant (as long as it’s within walking distance of a train or tram stop and they are flexible enough for 10-20 people)!!
