Prepayment & menu information to follow

The IWC Stuttgart Steering Committee cordially invites all members to a very special evening on Friday, July 15th!

We have sorely missed our annual holiday dinner the last two years and since we can’t be 100% sure it won’t be cancelled again this year, we have planned a mid-year version of this much-loved event.

This year’s dinner is being planned at the brand-new Ratskeller Restaurant in the basement of the Stuttgart Rathaus. We have a private room reserved just for us and and are working on a dinner menu with them now.

We will start our evening with a complimentary glass of Sekt at 18:30 and move on to dinner at 19:00. After dinner, all members are invited to take part in our optional gift exchange, which is loads of fun every year. More details to follow!

As soon as we have settled on the menus for the evening, we will ask you to choose and prepay for your food. We have requested a price of around €30 per person, with a meat and a veggie option, plus appetizer and dessert.

In the meantime, please RSVP in the private Facebook event to get your name on the guest list. If you don’t have Facebook, please let Emily know you are interested by sending an email to info (at) iwcstuttgart.org 💌

MEMBERS ONLY VIRTUAL EVENTS WINTER 2021

The December Coronavirus rules have been announced and we are facing at least another month of being unable to meet in person. At this point, it’s hard to say if we will be able to hold regular meetings this upcoming winter at all.

It’s time to get creative!

At our delightful activities planning Zoom meeting in November, we brainstormed up a few new events that combine actually leaving the house with a community activity we can do online! You will see us roll out a couple of these new hybrid events starting in January:

  • CONVERSATIONS ON MODERN ART – This activity is meant to replace tours of local art museums for the time being. Members will be given directions on how to find a public art installation (sculptures, for example) to visit on their own before the date of a scheduled Zoom meeting. Then at the meeting we will use the art as a starting point for our discussion – a bit like a book club, but with art!
  • TREASURE HUNT WALKS – Members will be given a walking route to follow somewhere in the city and a list of clues to try and find on their own before the scheduled Zoom meeting. See how many clues you can find and get some exercise in the process!

Under the current rules, the outdoor part of both events can be done alone, with your household/family, or with one other friend or club member.

Hopefully these ideas (and a few others we are working on) will keep us busy, connected, and safe for as long as necessary this winter. We’d love to hear any feedback or additional suggestions or ideas via the comment form below!

Members Only – Traditional Goose Dinner for St. Martin’s Day (+1 Event)

Location: Gasthaus Waldhorn, Krehlstr. 111, 70565 Stuttgart-Rohr
Nearest station: Stuttgart Rohr (S-Bahn)

Do you know the story of St. Martin and the geese? When he was elected bishop in the 4th century,  St. Martin’s modesty didn’t allow him to accept the position so he hid in a stable full of geese. But the birds were making so much noise that he was found and was ordained despite his attempt to avoid it. This legend forms the basis of the traditional goose dinner on St. Martin’s Day in Germany, Austria and other European countries (the actual date is on November 11th).

On November 7th we will celebrate St. Martin’s Day together with a traditional menu consisting of:

  • leg and breast of goose

  • and a roast apple (Bratapfel)

If you still have room for a dessert it can be ordered a la Carte.
