MEMBERS ONLY: TOUR OF STUTTGART LIBRARY (+1 EVENT)

ENGLISH LANGUAGE TOUR OF STUTTGART LIBRARY
This event is for members and +1 guest

Wednesday, March 11th meeting at 10:45
Location: Stuttgart Bibliothek, Mailänder Platz 1, 70173 Stuttgart
Nearest Stations: Hauptbahnhof, Stadtbibliothek

Members are invited to join Alison Tyler for an English-language tour of the central library in Stuttgart (Mailänder Platz) which is in the relatively new “Europaviertel” and is one of the most modern libraries in Europe.

The impressive cubic building designed by the Korean architect Eun Young Yi draws a large number of tourists and photographers from all over the world. There are spectacular views to be seen from the roof terrace.

We will meet at 10:45 on Wednesday, March 11th inside at the reception. We are currently trying to confirm an English speaking tour guide but if that is not possible or we do not reach the minimum of 12 or more in attendance, we will do an alternate English-language audio tour.

The tour will be approximately 90 minutes long and for those who are interested in staying for lunch there are a range of restaurants in the area.

This is a +1 event, which means:

 • Any IWCS member plus one guest are welcome to attend.
 • Your +1 can be a partner, spouse, adult child, or friend
 • You and your guest each pay the member cost listed below.

The cost of this event is €5 per person, paid in advance. The tour guide/audio guide will be sponsored by the IWCS and this is a Round Up For Charity event. All proceeds will benefit Frauen helfen Frauen.

To reserve your spot, please RSVP using the form below or respond in the pending Facebook event. To confirm your reservation, please transfer the €5 per person to the IWCS bank account no later than Wednesday the 4th of March. If you have any extenuating circumstances that keep you from getting the funds to us by that date, please speak directly with the host so we don’t assume you are no longer interested.

Prepayments are non-refundable after the payment deadline. Members who have to cancel at the last minute are welcome to find another member or guest to send in their place.

Fireworks shows in Stuttgart

Copyright (c) 123RF Stock PhotosHappy Fourth of July to those of you in the club and the community who are from the U.S.!

Today during our tour of Stuttgart, some of the Americans in the group were discussing where they could see fireworks this year and we came up with the following list to share.

Of course most of these events are not happening as part of any U.S. Independence Day festivities, people in the Stuttgart area just like a good fireworks show and everyone is invited to attend. If you know of any more firework shows happening this summer, please use the form at the end of this post to tell us about it!

July 4th – Patch Barracks fireworks show, Stuttgart-Vaihingen

July 14th – Lekker Lichterfest, Stuttgart-Killesberg

July 24th – Schlossfestspiele Open Air Concert and Fireworks, Ludwigsburg

August 17-19 – Flammende Stern Internationales Feuerwerksfestival, Ostfildern

Do you know of any more?
